2027 Church Board Nominations Open August 23
Our church family is seeking dedicated members to serve on the 2027 Church Board! Starting Sunday, August 23, through Saturday, September 5, all church members are invited to nominate fellow members who demonstrate a heart for service and leadership.
Please note that floor nominations will close promptly on September 5. Following this period, the Nominating Committee will begin reaching out to nominees to discuss their willingness to serve.
Please prayerfully consider who God might be calling to lead our congregation in the coming year!

Diaconate Board:
Diaconate Board:
Deacons are to be servants of the church. (Acts 6:1-4). The scriptural qualifications are set forth in 1 Timothy 3:2-13. Deacons are to be worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, not pursuing dishonest gain, hold to the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience, above reproach, not malicious talkers, temperate, trustworthy in everything, faithful to their spouse and manage their children and household well. Deacons shall be members of First Baptist Church of Gettysburg for at least one year prior to beginning service as a member of the Board of Deacons. The Board of Deacons will care for the church members using a variety of ministry models and methods. They shall be diligent in meeting physical and spiritual needs by providing aid, comfort, prayer, and encouragement. The Board of Deacons shall assist the pastoral staff in the preparation and performance of the ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. The Board of Deacons shall maintain the rolls of active and inactive members semiannually, and shall provide them to the Church Administrator for retention. The board shall be responsible for recommending new members to the congregation.

Sonshine Christian Preschool Board
The purpose of the SonShine Christian Preschool Board is to provide supervision over the operation and ministry of the SonShine Christian Preschool. The board advises and supports the preschool director to ensure that the proper classes, materials, curricula, licenses, and activities are being used to prepare the students for spiritual, social, and academic advancement (Deuteronomy 6:4-7a).
The board is responsible for hiring, evaluating, and removing the director. The board will assist in preparing the budget, including tuition and salaries. The board will meet regularly and consist of three or more elected members from First Baptist Church of Gettysburg, a pastoral representative, the director, and one parent representative. The parent representative, with an enrolled student, will be appointed by the board for a period of one year, with no limit to the number of consecutive terms and will be a voting member.

Treasurer
To be elected for a term of three years with no limit to the number of consecutive terms. In the case of a vacancy, the Official Board will appoint an interim Treasurer until the election of a Treasurer following the election procedures in this constitution. The Treasurer shall be the custodian of all monies contributed for the general expenses and ministries of the church. All budgeted items may be paid automatically, but any irregularities or shortage of funds shall be brought to the attention of the Official Board for action. If the Official Board cannot resolve the matter, it shall be brought before the congregation. The Treasurer shall present to the congregation at its annual business meeting, or more often if so requested, an itemized report of receipts and disbursements, showing the actual financial condition of the church. The Treasurer shall present the church financial records as requested by the Official Board for auditing purposes. The Treasurer shall deliver immediately to the successor all financial records pertaining to the office. The Treasurer shall meet with the Official Board at their regular board meetings and provide a financial summary and other information as requested. Written financial reports will be provided to the Church Administrator two weeks prior to annual or semi-annual business meeting.
Financial Secretary
To be elected for a term of three years with no limit to the number of consecutive terms. In the case of vacancy, the Official Board will appoint an Interim Financial Secretary until the election of a Financial Secretary following the election procedures contained in this constitution.
The Financial Secretary in cooperation with the assistant or a temporary substitute approved by the Official Board will record the offerings for the support of ministries and
maintenance of the church. The Financial Secretary will also receive contributions for missions, building funds, special funds, (including those from individuals, families,
organizations, trusts, estates, etc.). All offerings and contributions shall be recorded and deposited at the prescribed bank. Additional responsibilities include providing
written reports of all receipts and bank deposits as requested by the Treasurer and Official Board.
The reports of the Treasurer and the Financial Secretary must agree when presented at the semi-annual and annual business meetings.
